We had tickets to see David Bowie Is at the Brooklyn Museum last weekend. If you even like the work of David Bowie just a little bit, I can only recommend this exhibit. My wife Rose and I are huge fans, so we spent the entire afternoon examining every artifact and video that we could.
On the way north, we stopped in to view my sketch book at The Brooklyn Art Library.
I first worked with this group back in 2008. At the time, they were in Atlanta and were known as the Art House Co-op. Started by Steven Peterman and Shane Zucker, they became The Brooklyn Art Library in 2009.
The first project I worked on was called the Scavenger Project which was later exhibited at the Museum of Design Atlanta. I also participated in the 3rd Sketchbook Project and later did a solo show at The Art House Co-op entitled Contents Enclosed. When they moved to Brooklyn, I submitted my sketchbook Postcards from Kopu Kai as part of their permanent collection — which now houses some 40,000 sketchbooks!
The variety of bindings alone is amazing!
Looking at my sketchbook was like seeing an old friend again.
